November 15, 2019 – Kansas City celebrated the construction kick-off for its newest fountain today. The François Chouteau & Native American Heritage Fountain, to be located adjacent to Chouteau Parkway in the Northland, honors the founder of Kansas City and the Native Americans who lived and traded in the area.
Several dozen participants witnessed the ground blessing by a tribal member of the Osage Nation as well as a François Chouteau reenactor and Native Americans in their regalia. It was also a great opportunity to meet Kwan Wu, sculptor of the historic bronze statues that will adorn the river bluff portion of the fountain.
